Came with a carrying case. Easy to use. Point and shoot and the temperature is captured. 10:1 distance v. target (1.2" target at 12" distance, 7.2" at 6 feet, etc. Was able to shoot a window about 20 feet away and it appeared to have even finer resolution than that). Repeatable accuracy (same temp displayed each time I re-shot the target). Bought it to help with daughters science fair project. She needed a way of measuring the temperature of various types of operating lamps (CFLs, incandescents, etc.). Put a piece of black electrical tape on the surface of each and shot it with this pyrometer. The CP7876 has an automatic maximum hold feature that captures the highest temperature so you can sweep the unit around the target area. The large display in the middle shows the instantaneous (about 1 second update rate) and a smaller display in the lower right corner of the screen shows the maximum temperature recorded since the trigger was pulled
